Rajshahi: An emotional moment unfolded at Rajshahi Central Jail when, amid strict security and prison regulations, an imprisoned father was given the chance to see his deceased child one last time today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dulal, a resident of Chapainawabganj who is currently serving a life sentence, lost his son Abdullah on Saturday in a tragic road accident. News of the sudden death cast a shadow of grief over the entire family. Dulal, in prison, was devastated upon hearing about his son’s death. In this situation, his wife pleaded for him to be allowed to see their child’s face one last time.

Taking the family’s appeal seriously, a swift action was taken under the verbal directive of the Inspector General of Prisons. Under the supervision of Senior Jail Superintendent Al Mamun of Rajshahi Central Jail, the body of the deceased Abdullah was brought to the prison’s main gate. Following security protocols, inmate Dulal was allowed to see his son’s face for the final time there.

The scene at the prison gate was heart-wrenching. Seeing his son’s lifeless body, Dulal could no longer hold himself together and broke down in tears. Many of the prison guards and relatives present were deeply moved by the poignant scene. Prison authorities stated that the initiative was taken out of humanitarian consideration while upholding the law and security.

The incident highlights that emotions and relationships hold value even in the lives of prisoners. Members of the local community said that even while serving punishment for a crime, a person is not separated from their familial emotions. Such humanitarian initiatives send a positive message to society and further strengthen public trust in the administration.

This incident proves that humanity can find a place even within strict rules. The initiative taken by Rajshahi Central Jail will undoubtedly remain a unique example.
