Chuadanga: A government initiative to boost agricultural production was launched in the district today with the distribution of seeds and fertilizers among local farmers free of cost. The program, aimed at increasing the cultivation of Ufshi (High Yielding Variety) Aush paddy, was inaugurated at 11:00 am at the Sadar Upazila Hallroom. A total of 12,000 farmers from the district are set to benefit from the initiative.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was attended by Advocate Masud Parvez Russell, Member of Parliament for Chuadanga-1 constituency, who served as the chief guest, with Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tithi Mitra presiding over the proceedings. The event began with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Nazmul Haque and was conducted by Agricultural Extension Officer Asif Iqbal.

Under the government’s agricultural incentive program for the 2025-26 fiscal year, small and marginal farmers are receiving essential inputs to support Aush paddy cultivation. Each beneficiary farmer will receive five kilograms of paddy seeds, along with 10 kilograms each of DAP (Diammonium Phosphate) and MOP (Muriate of Potash) fertilizers.

Officials expressed hope that the initiative will help increase crop production and provide support to farmers across the district.
