Dhaka: A total of 42,342 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims have so far reached Saudi Arabia through 106 Hajj flights. Bangladesh Hajj Office Director Md Lokman Hossain reported that as of 10am today, 106 flights have successfully landed in Jeddah.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Hajj bulletin indicated that seven pilgrims have died due to natural causes, with five deaths occurring in Makkah and two in Medina. The report also revealed that the Saudi medical team has provided treatment facilities to 8,015 pilgrims, while the IT Helpdesk has offered medical services to 9,240 individuals.
Md Lokman Hossain mentioned that a total of 78,500 people from Bangladesh have been granted permission to perform Hajj this year. This includes operations managed by 660 agencies, which comprise 30 lead agencies and 630 coordinating agencies. Airline data shows that 20,036 pilgrims traveled on 49 flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 14,820 on 38 flights of Saudi Airlines, and 7,486 on 19 flights of Flynas Airlines. The
remaining 36,004 pilgrims are expected to arrive gradually through designated airlines.
The first Hajj flight (BG3001), carrying 418 pilgrims, departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on April 17 at 11:57 pm, headed for King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. This inaugural flight was officiated by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. Out of the total pilgrims, 4,565 will perform Hajj under government management, while 73,935 will proceed under private arrangements, as confirmed by the Hajj office.
The Saudi Embassy in Dhaka has issued a total of 78,346 visas so far, including 4,443 under government management and 73,903 under private management. The holy Hajj is expected to take place in Saudi Arabia on May 26, subject to the sighting of the moon. Return flights are scheduled to start departing from Jeddah on May 30, with the last return Hajj flight set for June 30.
