Dhaka: The newly elected members of parliament for the reserved women seats of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad will take oath tomorrow. The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected MPs to the reserved women seats will be held at 9:00 pm at the oath room (East Block, Level-1) of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Election Commission (EC) had previously published a gazette notification on April 30, announcing the names of 49 MPs elected unopposed to the reserved women seats of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad. The allocation of these seats was based on the distribution among political parties and alliances.
The gazette detailed that 36 MPs were elected from the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its alliance. Additionally, 12 MPs were elected from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its alliance, with one woman MP elected from a coalition formed by six independent MPs.
Those elected from the BNP-led alliance include Selima Rahman, Shirin Sultana, Rasheda Begum Hira, and others. From the Jamaat-led alliance, elected members are Nurunnisa Siddika, Marjia Begum, and others. Sultana Jesmin was elected from the independent alliance.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has declared valid the nomination paper of Nusrat Tabassum Jyoti, a candidate from the Jamaat alliance and a leader of the National Citizen Party (NCP), for a reserved women seat in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad.
