Manikganj: Lawmaker Engineer Moinul Islam Khan Shanto has announced that the government will implement stringent measures to combat drug trafficking, terrorism, and illegal toll collection. He emphasized that individuals involved in these activities will face severe consequences, irrespective of their political affiliations.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Moinul, who represents the Manikganj-2 constituency, made these statements during the inauguration of a geo bag dumping project on the Kalitola River in Kanchonpur Union, Harirampur Upazila. This project is designed to mitigate riverbank erosion, a significant concern for the local community.

Moinul highlighted the critical situation of approximately 60 meters of the Kalitola River, which is currently at risk of erosion. He assured that protective measures will be sustained in the area. Additionally, he mentioned that around 12 kilometers along the Padma River are similarly vulnerable, with intervention plans set to commence next year.

The event was presided over by Water Development Board Executive Engineer Muhammad Aktaruzzan, and featured speeches from District Council Administrator Advocate Jamilur Rashid Khan, as well as Harirampur Upazila BNP leader Shamim Ahmed.
