Dinajpur: LGRD and Cooperatives Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed deep shock and sorrow at the passing of Jobeda Begum, aged 82, the mother of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Chief News Editor Manikul Azad. In a condolence message, he prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and extended his sympathy to the bereaved family, relatives, and well-wishers. "As a devout woman, late Jobeda Begum was well known and highly respected among her neighbors," the message stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon, Prime Minister's Press Secretary AAM Saleh Shibly, BSS Managing Director and Chief Editor Kamal Uddin Shabuj, and Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Secretary General Kader Gani Chowdhury also mourned her passing. In separate condolence messages, they prayed for eternal peace for Jobeda Begum and conveyed profound sympathy to her family.
Jobeda Begum passed away at around 5pm while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Dinajpur town. She is survived by five sons, two daughters, and several relatives and well-wishers. Her funeral will take place at Bazar Deha village graveyard under Pirganj upazila in Thakurgaon district after a namaz-e-janaza on the graveyard premises at 10am tomorrow.
Despite residing in a remote village, Jobeda Begum's children pursued higher education at prestigious institutions across the country. Family sources revealed that she played a crucial role in encouraging her children to attain higher degrees and contribute to societal well-being. Her children currently hold significant positions in various state-run, government, and non-government institutions.
