Dhaka: The Bangladesh chapter of the SAARC Journalist Forum (SJF) has announced plans to organize the Dhaka Conference later this year. The decision was finalized at an Executive Committee meeting held at the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka, presided over by the chapter’s President, Nasir Al Mamoon.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the conference aims to assemble journalists and media professionals from South Asia to discuss crucial topics, including strengthening professional collaboration, revitalizing the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), and promoting people-to-people connectivity. Members of the Executive Committee conveyed their commitment to making the Dhaka conference a pivotal platform for dialogue on media, democracy, and regional cooperation.
During the meeting, members also congratulated Khondoker Kaosar Hossain on his recent appointment as Media Coordinator to the Information and Broadcasting Minister. Hossain is a senior journalist and an Executive Committee member of the forum.
The meeting saw participation from Central Secretary General Md Abdur Rahman, Bangladesh Chapter Vice Presidents Asif Hasan Nabi and Md Shariful Islam, General Secretary Shiabur Rahman, Joint General Secretary Shahed Motiur Rahman, Treasurer Reza Mahmud, and Executive Members Rafiqul Islam Azad, Md Mostafa Khan, Ayon Ahmed, and MM Gias Uddin. The gathering concluded with a renewed commitment to advancing the objectives of the SAARC Journalist Forum and enhancing cooperation among journalists in the region.
