Mostofa and Tariqul Elected to Lead Khulna Press Club

Khulna: Mostofa Sarwar, editor and publisher of the local daily Probartan, and Md Tariqul Islam, editor and publisher of the local daily Shomoyer Khobor, have been elected president and general secretary, respectively, in the Khulna Press Club (KPC) election-2026. The election was held in a free, fair, and peaceful atmosphere today.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Deputy Director (Local Government) at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and chairman of the election conducting committee, Md Ariful Islam, announced the results after counting the votes. Voting took place uninterrupted from 9 am to 1 pm at the Journalist Liaquat Ali Auditorium of the Khulna Press Club, with 167 out of 172 registered voters casting their votes.



The election commission reported that Mostofa Sarwar was elected president, securing 113 votes. Meanwhile, Md Tariqul Islam was elected general secretary with 94 votes. In addition, Bimal Saha, publisher of the online portal Usher Alo, was elected treasurer with 103 votes.
