Four More Die as Measles Cases Surge Nationwide

Dhaka: Four more people have died of measles and measles-like symptoms in the country in the last 24 hours, according to a press release sent from the control centre of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The report indicates an alarming situation with a surge in new cases.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DGHS press release stated that 1,358 new suspected measles patients have been reported across the country in the last 24 hours. Among these, 90 confirmed measles patients required hospital admission. The cumulative number of hospital admissions for suspected measles has reached 22,442, with 19,018 patients having recovered and been discharged.

Since March 15, the death toll due to measles and measles-like symptoms has reached 220 across the country. Health authorities continue to monitor the situation as efforts to control the outbreak are ongoing.
