Crocodile Incident in Faridpur Attracts Large Crowd

Faridpur: A crocodile was caught in fishermen’s fishing gear in the Padma River in Charbhadrasan upazila of Faridpur early Monday, drawing a large crowd to the riverbank.



According to United News of Bangladesh, the crocodile became entangled in a fishing-hook near Gopalpur ghat while fishermen were fishing as usual in the early hours. They successfully pulled the crocodile out and brought it to the nearby ghat of Qazi Bari. As news of the catch spread, curious locals gathered in large numbers to see the reptile.



Fishermen Swapan Bepari, Rajib Bepari, Rabiul Bepari, and Billal Khan were fishing in the river when the crocodile got stuck in Swapan Bepari’s gear. They later informed the local authorities, prompting officials from the local administration and forest department to visit the spot.



Charbhadrasan Upazila Nirbahi Officer Suraiya Momtaz stated that discussions were held with the forest department, which would rescue the crocodile and take necessary action. Police have been deployed in the area to manage the situation.



Upazila Forest Officer Fazle Karim confirmed that the animal is a crocodile, although its species has not yet been identified. He mentioned that a team has left Khulna to rescue the crocodile and shift it to a safe place after expert assessment.
