Dhaka: Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon today emphasized the need for global collaboration in regulating digital platforms. “In the present world, it is important to bring digital platforms under a set of regulations and discipline. This is not possible for any single country. In this regard, all countries have to come forward collectively,” he stated during a meeting with Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Sen at his ministry office.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting also covered discussions on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing media, cultural, and knowledge-based cooperation between Bangladesh and Turkey. Swapon highlighted his participation in the Strategic Communication Summit in Turkey last March, praising the event as a timely initiative and expressing gratitude to the Turkish government for organizing it.
During the meeting, the Turkish ambassador presented a proposal to enhance cooperation between Turkish state television and radio, and their Bangladeshi counterparts, Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar. Swapon underscored the importance of improving communication between media outlets of both countries at a governmental level.
Swapon’s visit to Turkey included a bilateral meeting with Professor Burhanettin Duran, Head of Communications for the Presidency of Turkey. The discussions led to a preliminary agreement to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at facilitating knowledge and information exchange between Bangladesh and Turkey.
