Dhaka: In an unprecedented gesture of encouraging a college student, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today drove a go-kart (racing car) built by Rizwan Rashid Rion within the premises of his office. Rizwan, a college student, presented his self-built go-kart before the Prime Minister during a courtesy call at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in the city’s Tejgaon area this afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony reported that during the meeting, the Prime Minister inspected the kart with great interest. At one point, the premier took the opportunity to get into the driver’s seat and drove the go-kart from the sprawling lawn to the approach road of the PMO.
Young Rizwan expressed his amazement at the Prime Minister’s gesture, stating that he never imagined the Prime Minister would actually drive a vehicle made by him. “This is truly inspiring,” Rizwan said. He also mentioned that he drove the go-kart all the way from Mohammadpur to the PMO in Tejgaon.
Rizwan’s innovative creation of the go-kart recently went viral on social media, capturing the attention of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. Following this, the Prime Minister asked his Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman to gather more information about it.
During their meeting, Rizwan shared the story behind the making of the go-kart. He revealed that his father, a diploma engineer working in the Mechanical Division of the Ministry of Education, inspired him to build the kart. After completing his Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams in 2025, Rizwan decided to make productive use of his free time. Although his family bought him a motorcycle, he was more interested in a car. Due to financial constraints preventing the purchase of a car, Rizwan built his own go-kart.
On his arrival at the PMO, driving his kart, the Prime Minister highly praised Rizwan and emphasized that the country’s youth should engage in more creative activities.
