Dhaka: Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) and Daffodil Group and Daffodil International University (DIU) today officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a significant move to elevate Bangladesh's emerging technology sectors.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this partnership aims to operationalize high-level technical training and capacity building, specifically targeting the semiconductor industry and advanced ICT sectors, said a press release. The agreement was formally signed by Shabbir Ahmed Khan, President of BMCCI, and Prof. Dr. M. R. Kabir, Vice-Chancellor of Daffodil International University. Senior leadership from the BMCCI and Daffodil Group were present at the event.
This collaboration serves as an execution for the landmark Government-to-Business (G2B) initiative signed between Bangladesh and Malaysia in August 2025. That historic agreement, witnessed by the Heads of State of both nations, saw BMCCI partnering with MIMOS (Malaysia's National Applied RandD Centre), marking the first G2B agreement of its kind between the two countries to leverage technical cooperation in the semiconductor landscape.
Under this new MoU, BMCCI and Daffodil will work together to develop technical talent with international partners like MIMOS and ASEM, establish specialized training centres and labs for semiconductor design, AI, and IoT, and facilitate internships, placements, and business opportunities within the industry network.
Shabbir Ahmed Khan stated, "This partnership is a direct result of the momentum gained from our G2B engagement with MIMOS last year, combining BMCCI's regional influence with Daffodil's academic excellence; we are creating a bridge between Bangladesh and Malaysia that will transform our country into a hub for semiconductor and advanced technology."
Prof. Dr. M. R. Kabir commented, "Daffodil is committed to providing the infrastructure and technical expertise needed to turn this vision into reality. Together, we are ensuring that the next generation of Bangladeshi engineers and innovators are prepared to compete on a global scale."
