Dhaka: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today announced an initiative to transfer approximately 200 unused buildings under the Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Ministry to the health ministry. The move aims to repurpose these urban area structures into facilities for the treatment of women and children, including their transformation into maternity clinics.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Prime Minister made this announcement in response to a supplementary question from treasury bench lawmaker Md Showkatul Islam of the Moulvibazar-2 constituency during a session in the Jatiya Sangsad (JS), presided over by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram. Tarique Rahman assured that the process of handing over the buildings to the health ministry will be finalized within this month.
