Chattogram: The Shahanshah Hazrat Syed Ziaul Huq Maizbhandari (KA) Trust (SZHMT) will host the “SZHMT 8th International Sufi Conference 2026” in Chattogram, Bangladesh from 9-11 December 2026. The conference will focus on the theme “Tasawwuf, Social Harmony, and World Peace.”
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the international conference aims to unite scholars, researchers, Sufi practitioners, and intellectuals from around the world to discuss how Tasawwuf (Sufism) can help tackle modern contemporary global issues like conflict, inequality, extremism, and social fragmentation.
The event will also honor the 200th birth anniversary of Gausul Azam Shah Sufi Hazrat Syed Ahmad Ullah Maizbhandari (KA) and celebrate his spiritual legacy and significant contributions to Sufism in South Asia.
Interested scholars and researchers are invited to submit abstracts of 250-300 words in English for consideration. Full papers and presentations can be in Bengali, English, Arabic, or Urdu. Important dates include the abstract submission deadline on 31 May 2026, notification of acceptance from 16-30 June 2026, and full paper submission between 1 August and 30 September 2026.
Academics, researchers, graduate and PhD students, Sufi scholars, spiritual leaders, and individuals involved in peacebuilding and interfaith dialogue are invited to participate. Selected papers may be published in the conference proceedings and related journals.
