576,000 Litres of Illegally Hoarded Fuel Seized in Nationwide Drives

Dhaka: Mobile court drives across the country have seized 576,993 litres of illegally hoarded fuel aimed at preventing stockpiling and ensuring a smooth supply system.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Energy and Mineral Resources Division reported that the operations, conducted from March to April 21, led to the seizure of the highest volume of diesel, totaling 390,209 litres. In addition, authorities recovered 40,846 litres of octane, 97,483 litres of petrol, and around 48,500 litres of furnace oil.



To ensure proper fuel management, a total of 11,197 drives were carried out across the country until April 21, resulting in the filing of 4,053 cases. During these drives, mobile courts realized fines amounting to Taka 1,80,96,115, and 54 individuals were sentenced to imprisonment for various offences.



The division stated that such operations would continue in the future to maintain discipline in the energy sector and curb illegal activities.
