Dhaka: Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu today announced that the government has embarked on initiatives to make land services more accessible and user-friendly. This declaration was made during a session at the Jatiya Sangsad, where the minister addressed an urgent notice raised by treasury bench lawmaker Md Aynal Haque of Sirajganj-3 under section 71 of the rules of procedure. The session was presided over by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister expressed optimism about creating a transparent land management system nationwide. To achieve this, the land ministry has launched several digital services, including a fully digital mutation process, online land development tax payments, and a digital land record system. Additionally, initiatives such as surprise visits, departmental actions, and hotline services have been introduced to enhance the efficiency and transparency of land services.

The minister highlighted that the government has mandated e-mutations to reduce broker intervention, requiring stakeholders to apply online. In this digital application process, subscribers receive SMS notifications at every stage, from notice issuance to hearing approvals, to prevent any illegal activities between the government and subscribers.

Furthermore, the introduction of online land development tax is aimed at eliminating cash transactions in land offices. Citizens can now pay their land development taxes using digital payment platforms like Bkash, Nagad, Rocket, and other online banking systems, leveraging their National ID.
