Dhaka: Professor Dr Md Nazrul Islam has been appointed as the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) of Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) for a four-year term. The announcement was made through a notification issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the notification stated that the appointment was approved by the President and Chancellor under Section 15(1) of the Bangladesh Medical University Act, 1998. Dr Nazrul Islam, who is currently a professor in the Department of Radiology and Imaging and serves as the Registrar at BMU, will assume his new role immediately.
The notification further detailed that Dr Nazrul Islam will receive a salary and allowances equivalent to his current position, along with other benefits as per the rules. It also noted that the President and Chancellor hold the authority to cancel the appointment at any time if deemed necessary.
