Naogaon: Four members of a family, including two children, were found dead with their throats slit at Bahadurpur village in Niamatpur upazila of Naogaon early Tuesday. The deceased have been identified as Habibur Rahman, 32, his wife Popy Sultana, 25, their 9-year-old son Parvez, and 3-year-old daughter Sadiya Akter.
According to United News of Bangladesh, locals and police reported that Habibur Rahman and his family went to sleep after dinner on Monday night. On Tuesday morning, a neighbor discovered the door of their house open and found the bodies inside, all with their throats slit. The neighbor’s screams alerted other villagers, who then informed the police.
The police arrived at the scene around 9:00 am and recovered the bodies. Locals suspect that the killings might be linked to a long-standing land dispute, although the police have yet to confirm a motive.
Officer-in-Charge of Niamatpur Police Station Mahbubur Rahman stated that the bodies would be sent to Naogaon 250-bed General Hospital for autopsy. He added that the incident is being investigated with high priority, and legal action is underway.
