State Minister Tuku Inaugurates Measles-Rubella Vaccination in Tangail

Tangail: State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku today inaugurated a Measles-Rubella vaccination program at Tangail town’s Poura Udyan. A special vaccination initiative has been launched in 12 upazilas of the district.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the State Minister criticized the previous government for their handling of the measles vaccine, stating that they failed to arrange for the timely import of vaccines, which posed severe health risks to children. He emphasized that under the directives of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the current administration has successfully implemented the distribution of measles vaccines nationwide.



Present at the inauguration were Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haque, Civil Surgeon Dr. A.F.M. Mahbubul Alam Manju, Police Superintendent Shamsul Alam Sarkar, and Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Shahin Mia. The District Health Department reports that the program aims to vaccinate 387,369 children aged 6 months to 5 years across 390 wards in the 12 upazilas. This vaccination drive is scheduled to continue until May 10.
