Jatiya sangsad: Jatiya Sangsad Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal today emphasized the importance of unity in parliament, urging both the treasury bench and opposition lawmakers to work “shoulder to shoulder” on national issues.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Barrister Kamal made this statement during a discussion in the house where two separate adjournment notices regarding energy and its impacts were presented by opposition leader Shafiqur Rahman and Jamaat lawmaker Nurul Islam from Chapainawabganj-3. The Deputy Speaker highlighted the constructive and harmonious nature of the deliberations.

He clarified that the focus was not on adjourning proceedings, but on whether the issue warranted further debate, which he noted was already occurring in a meaningful manner. Barrister Kamal also pointed out the importance of parliamentary procedures, suggesting that the discussion could proceed under an alternative rule of the Rules of Procedure instead of moving a formal adjournment motion.

Earlier in the day, the session commenced at 3:00 pm with Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal presiding over the proceedings.
