Thakurgaon: A “Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign-2026” has been initiated in Thakurgaon to address the ongoing measles outbreak. The campaign was officially launched by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rafiqul Haque at the EPI Vaccination Center of the 250-bed General Hospital in Thakurgaon at 10 am.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the campaign aims to vaccinate a total of 142,511 children in the Thakurgaon district. To achieve this goal, 1,363 vaccination centers have been established throughout the district, comprising 6 permanent and 1,357 temporary centers. The vaccination process commenced simultaneously at different centers across the district following the inauguration.
The campaign targets children aged 6 months to 5 years and will administer vaccines daily from 9 am to 4 pm. Health department officials emphasized that the program is crucial for ensuring comprehensive protection against measles and rubella among children in the district. They also highlighted the importance of voluntary participation by parents to achieve the campaign’s objectives.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by District Civil Surgeon Dr. Anisur Rahman, Medical Officer Iftekhairul Islam, and other officials, underscoring the collaborative effort to combat the measles outbreak in the region.
