Dhaka: Chief Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Md. Nurul Islam announced today that two ships carrying a total of 200,000 metric tons of fuel oil have anchored at the jetty. He highlighted that this development deserves media attention, just as the reports on the closure of the Eastern Refinery PLC in Chattogram did.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Chief Whip pointed out that while the news of the refinery's closure received significant media coverage, the positive development of the oil supply through the arrival of these two ships should have been equally highlighted. He emphasized the need for the media to present positive developments alongside negative news.
Nurul Islam made these remarks while briefing journalists at the tunnel of the JS Bhaban during a break of the day's sitting in the first session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, as stated in a press release. He also mentioned that since assuming office, the Prime Minister has been working for the overall welfare of the country with key priorities including ensuring people's well-being, building a humane state, establishing democracy, and safeguarding the country's independence and sovereignty.
The Chief Whip also noted the government's efforts to ensure justice in all sectors and highlighted the importance of skilled manpower for employment generation. He stressed the need for multilingual skills, emphasizing learning languages such as Arabic, Mandarin, Italian, Korean, Japanese, and English for global employment opportunities. The Education Minister is expected to prepare a guideline after conducting nationwide consultations, which will later be submitted to the Prime Minister.
Regarding constitutional amendment, Nurul Islam stated that despite differences of opinion between the government and opposition, both sides will eventually reach a consensus to bring forward a joint proposal. He concluded by emphasizing the Jatiya Sangsad's commitment to discussion and constructive criticism, with the goal of establishing democracy, protecting independence and sovereignty, and advancing the country's development.
