Banani: The fire that erupted in an 11-storey building in the capital's Banani area this evening has been brought under control after around two hours of intensive efforts.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fire Service media officer Anwarul Islam reported that the blaze started on the 11th floor of the building located beside a local kitchen market at Road No. 12, House No. 44, around 6:30pm today.
Seven firefighting units were dispatched to the location and worked diligently to contain and eventually extinguish the fire by around 8:15pm. Their coordinated efforts successfully prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent floors and nearby structures.
There are no immediate reports of casualties. However, several occupants were safely evacuated as a precautionary measure. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire, and an assessment of the total damage is currently underway.
Fire officials stated that further investigation will be conducted to identify the origin of the blaze and ensure safety compliance in the building.
