Dhaka: The Cabinet Division has requested all government offices to conduct meetings and other official programmes through virtual platforms in a bid to save fuel amid the global energy situation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a circular was issued on April 12, signed by Deputy Secretary Md Mamun of the Field Administration Coordination Branch. It emphasized the necessity to ensure uninterrupted and effective government activities while conserving fuel resources.
The circular was dispatched to all secretaries, senior secretaries, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, and Upazila Nirbahi Officers. It mandated that participation in programmes such as meetings, workshops, and training sessions organized by ministries and divisions must be conducted through virtual platforms for field-level officials.
The directive specified that district-level participation in divisional programmes and upazila-level participation in district programmes should be arranged virtually. Furthermore, the Cabinet Division advised that physical meetings should be avoided whenever possible, except in cases of urgent necessity, to reduce fuel consumption associated with official travel.
All concerned have been instructed to strictly comply with the directive and take necessary measures accordingly until further notice.
