Dhaka: State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yeaser Khan Choudhury today emphasized the government’s steadfast commitment to maintaining media freedom and pledged to continue necessary initiatives to support this cause. Speaking at the “Who’s Who Bangladesh 2026” award ceremony held in the capital, Choudhury highlighted the need for collective efforts to promote national unity and drive development.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state minister, addressing attendees at the event, pointed out the immense potential within Bangladesh, emphasizing unity, sincerity, and joint efforts as crucial to realizing this potential. He encouraged focusing on future progress and development, steering clear of past controversies, and underscored the principle of placing ‘Bangladesh first’ in all endeavors.
Highlighting the government’s perspective, Choudhury stressed that the current administration, elected by the people, prioritizes development-oriented politics. He shared insights from his profess
ional journey, noting his experience in the UK’s information technology sector and various international organizations before transitioning to a political career influenced by his family’s legacy. Choudhury now serves as a Member of Parliament for Nandail in Mymensingh.
The “Who’s Who Bangladesh-2026” ceremony recognized several distinguished individuals across various fields. Awardees included Professor Dr. G.K.M. Mostafizur Rahman in agriculture, Farida Akhtar Popy (Bobita) in arts and culture, novelist Rahitul Islam in arts and literature, and Mansur Ahmed Chowdhury in education. Additional recipients were Ershad Ullah, MP for Chattogram-8, for male entrepreneurship, Kona Alam for female entrepreneurship, Shakawath Hossain in global profession, Shafik Ahmed in journalism, Saeed Ur Rab in sports, Shanti Sree in social service, and Shahidul Alam, founder of Drik, who received the lifetime achievement award.
