Dhaka: State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam left Dhaka today for Senegal to attend the Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security, which will focus on topics of global stability, security cooperation, and emerging geopolitical challenges.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state minister will participate in the forum scheduled to be held from April 19 to 22. The Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa serves as a high-level platform that gathers African leaders, global policymakers, defence experts, and international partners to discuss pressing security issues.

Since its inception in 2014, the forum has addressed challenges such as terrorism, violent extremism, maritime security, climate-related risks, and transnational crime. The annual event, held in Dakar, aims to promote collective responses to security threats in Africa while strengthening international cooperation and dialogue among nations and institutions.

Shama Obaed Islam is expected to engage in discussions and meetings on the sidelines of the forum, highlighting Bangladesh’s commitment to global peace, multilateralism, and international security cooperation. She is scheduled to return to Bangladesh on April 24.
