Dhaka: Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Spokesperson Mahdi Amin stated today that the opposition party is creating obstacles to the country’s progress instead of cooperating with the government’s initiatives over the past two months. Addressing a press conference held at the PMO, Amin marked the completion of the first two months of the BNP government by expressing concerns over the opposition’s actions.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mahdi Amin emphasized that the government had anticipated cooperation from the opposition party regarding the positive measures implemented by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s administration in this short period. However, Amin noted that the opposition chose to create chaos in parliament, threaten protests, and spread rumors, which he described as impediments to national progress.

Amin also highlighted the achievement of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, who has been named in TIME magazine’s list of the 100 Most Influential People in the world for 2026. He expressed pride over this international recognition, which acknowledges Rahman’s leadership and contributions to democracy.

During the press conference, Mahdi Amin outlined the government’s 60 landmark initiatives introduced over the last two months, underscoring the administration’s commitment to advancing the nation amidst challenges posed by the opposition.
