Kushtia: Two people were killed and at least three others injured in a collision between a truck and a pickup van in Kushtia early today. The accident occurred around 6:30 am in the Bittipara area on the Kushtia-Jhenaidah highway under Kushtia Sadar upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased were identified as Sifayet, 35, and Bikash, 45, both residents of Narail district. A pickup van carrying horses was heading towards Narail in the morning when it crashed into the rear of a truck parked on the roadside in the Bittipara area.
Sifayet died on the spot, while Bikash succumbed to his injuries at Kushtia General Hospital while undergoing treatment. In addition to the human casualties, three horses on the pickup van also lost their lives in the accident.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kushtia Highway Police Station, Abu Obayed, stated that the bodies have been kept at the hospital morgue, and the injured are receiving treatment at the hospital.
