Gopalganj: Police have arrested a drug dealer along with a large quantity of illegal drugs and cash during a special operation in Kashiani upazila of the district early Sunday. The arrested man, Sheikh Shahidul Islam Akash, 38, was taken into custody on the spot. A case has been filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act with Kashiani Police Station.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, on a tip-off, a police team led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (Muksudpur Circle) Nafisur Rahman conducted a drive in the West Ratail area around 3:30 am and arrested Akash. They recovered 10,207 yaba tablets, two kilograms of ganja, and Taka 4,26,800 in cash from a house. This was confirmed by Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Habibullah at a press briefing held this noon.
Senior police officials, including Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Sarwar Hossain, Assistant Superintendent Nafisur Rahman, and Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kashiani Police Station Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, were present at the press briefing. It was revealed that at least five cases related to drug offenses were pending against Akash.
