Narail: A total of 9,200 small and marginal farmers across three upazilas in the district will receive free Aush paddy seeds and chemical fertilizers as part of a government agricultural incentive program.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the District Agriculture Department (DAE) has outlined that the beneficiaries include 3,900 farmers in Narail Sadar upazila, 3,570 in Kalia upazila, and 1,730 in Lohagara upazila. This support aims to boost the cultivation and production of Aush paddy during the Kharip-1 season of the 2025-26 financial year.
Under the program, each farmer is being provided with 5 kilograms of Aush paddy seeds, along with 10 kilograms each of DAP (Diammonium Phosphate) and MOP (Muriate of Potash) fertilizers. Agricultural officials stated that distributing these inputs will encourage farmers to expand Aush cultivation, ultimately increasing rice production in the region.
Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Muhammad Arifur Rahman, mentioned that the initiative is part of the government's ongoing efforts to support small and marginal farmers while enhancing overall agricultural productivity. "This incentive program will create greater interest among farmers in Aush cultivation and contribute to higher rice yields," he added.
