Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) will publish the updated final voter list on May 14, EC Director (Public Relations) and Information Officer Md Ruhul Amin Mallick announced today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a letter concerning the publication and finalisation of the draft voter list, signed by EC Senior Assistant Secretary Md Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, has been dispatched to all upazila election offices. The letter outlines that the National Identity Registration Department will prepare a PDF of the draft voter list of eligible voters-those born on or before January 1, 2008-who registered by March 31, 2026. This document will be available on the CMS portal starting April 15.
Based on this preparation, the draft voter list is scheduled for publication on April 20. Subsequent to this release, the deadline for submitting applications for various updates, including the inclusion of eligible persons, removal of names due to death or ineligibility, voter transfers, and error corrections, is set for May 3. These applications are to be processed by the relevant upazila or thana election officer and registration officer by May 6.
The final decisions regarding these applications are expected by May 10, paving the way for the publication of the updated final voter list on May 14. The letter also emphasizes that the printed draft voter list should be accessible for public inspection during this phase. It suggests making announcements through imams and priests at places of worship, such as mosques and temples, to foster public awareness and encourage the rectification of errors.
Moreover, the letter proposes that efforts be made to publicize this initiative via local cable operators and media outlets. It further instructs the concerned authorities to ensure the inclusion of eligible individuals, the removal of deceased or ineligible persons, voter transfers, entry corrections, and the rectification of any gender or religion-related inaccuracies within the voter list.
