Feni: Prime Minister and Chief Patron of ‘Amra BNP Poribar’ Tarique Rahman has supported the family of Feni Jubo Dal leader Harunur Rashid, who was killed by police in 2013, by gifting them a new house.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a delegation from Amra BNP Poribar visited Harun’s village home at Jagat Jibonpur in the Farhadnagar area of Feni Sadar to inaugurate the construction work of the new house. The construction work was inaugurated by Amra BNP Poribar Adviser Abul Kashem, as shared by the organization’s Member Secretary, agriculturist Md Moksedul Momin Mithun.
“Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is a humanitarian leader. He stands by those who were persecuted and martyred during the previous fascist regime. Harun was martyred in police firing in 2013,” Mithun stated, emphasizing the support provided by the Prime Minister. He further mentioned, “Today, we have come to inaugurate the construction of his house, which was gifted by the Prime Minister. Earlier, we came to the wedding of Harun Bhai’s daughter. InshaAllah, we will remain beside this family.”
Abul Kashem highlighted that the Prime Minister has consistently inquired about Harun’s family. “The premier assured the family that he would provide them with a house,” Kashem said, “Today we inaugurated that work.”
Kashem also mentioned that Amra BNP Poribar, formed in 2023, has been supporting those persecuted and martyred during the past 17 years under the fascist regime.
Several prominent figures including Feni District BNP Convener Sheikh Farid Bahar, Member Secretary Alal Uddin Alal, Upazila BNP Convener Fazlur Rahman Bokul, Municipality BNP Member Secretary Advocate Mesbah Uddin Bhuiyan, and Upazila BNP Member Secretary Aman Uddin Kaiser Sabbir were present at the event.
The occasion also included a prayer conducted by Feni district Jubo Dal Member Secretary Naim Ullah Chowdhury Borat in remembrance of Harunur Rashid, who was killed on December 4, 2013, during a procession supporting a hartal on Shaheed Shahidullah Kaiser Road in Feni town.
