Dhaka: Seven more patients have succumbed to measles and measles-like symptoms within a 24-hour span ending at 8 am on Monday, increasing the total death toll to 156, as reported by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The agency confirmed that among the deceased, two were verified as measles patients.
According to United News of Bangladesh, during this period, a total of 1,371 suspected measles cases were identified, with 729 patients requiring hospitalization. Cumulatively, 10,954 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals since the outbreak began.
The DGHS also reported that 8,369 patients have successfully recovered and have been discharged from medical facilities. In the same 24-hour timeframe, the Dhaka division registered the highest number of suspected measles-related deaths, recording four fatalities. Additionally, Dhaka district accounted for the highest number of district-level deaths with four deaths reported.
The DGHS further stated that the total number of confir
med measles deaths from March 15 to April 13 stands at 30.
