Bogura: Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon today announced plans to transform Bogura into one of the country’s leading educational cities and a prominent educational hub. “The government aims to transform Bogura into a model district in the education sector. A modern education system would be developed centering the region,” he mentioned at the Farmer Card distribution programme held at Uthali High School ground in Sadar union of Shibganj upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the program was also attended by several dignitaries, including State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam, State Minister for Public Administration and Food Abdul Bari, Vice-Chancellor of National University Prof Dr. ASM Amanullah, Acting Director General of Bogura Rural Development Academy (RDA) agriculturist Abdul Majid, and Deputy Commissioner Taufiqur Rahman.
Education Minister Milon emphasized the importance of quality education, asserting that proper teaching must be ensured in every educational institution. He stressed the crucial role of teachers and guardians in achieving this goal. Furthermore, the minister highlighted the potential use of retired teachers’ experience to strengthen the educational system further. He also announced plans for constructing multipurpose halls in every upazila to facilitate examinations.
In addition to educational reforms, the minister assured a 100 percent festival allowance for teachers, noting that the government is actively working to enhance the dignity and incentives for educators. He mentioned that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is committed to action rather than words, as exemplified by the distribution of Farmer Cards.
The Farmer Cards, introduced as a “new Halkhata” for farmers, aim to provide easy access to incentives, subsidies, and necessary support. These measures are anticipated to significantly boost agricultural production. During the program, 3,147 farmers in Shibganj upazila received Farmer Cards in the pre-pilot phase.
