Chhatra Dal Hosts Vibrant Baishakhi Festival at Dhaka University

Dhaka: The Dhaka University unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal organized ‘Baishakhi Festival 1433’ on the campus today. The day-long festival kicked off at 2:00 pm at the university’s Mall Chattar, drawing significant attention from students and faculty members alike.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was graced by several prominent figures from the DU Chhatra Dal. Among those present were DU Chhatra Dal President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas, Senior Vice-President Anisur Rahman Khandakar Anik, General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon, Senior Joint General Secretary Nasir Uddin Shawon, and Office Secretary Mallik Wasi Tami. Their presence underscored the importance of the festival in promoting cultural awareness among the student body.



The festival featured a variety of traditional attractions, including puppet shows, stick fighting (lathi khela), bioscope, and nagordola rides. Attendees were also treated to performances of Baul songs and Jari-Sari folk music, which highlighted the rich heritage of the region. The diverse lineup aimed to immerse participants in the cultural tapestry of Bangladesh.



Nasir Uddin Shawon, DU Chhatra Dal Senior Joint General Secretary, emphasized the significance of the event, stating, “We have our own culture, history, heritage, and traditions. These will never fade away. We want to reestablish our lost rural culture in a renewed form on the DU campus.” He further elaborated on the festival’s objectives, saying, “Beyond bricks and concrete, there is a different world. We want to reconnect students with that world. This occasion is meant to introduce our lost traditions to the new generation.”
