Pahela Baishakh Celebrated as a Symbol of Unity and Cultural Harmony, Says Cultural Minister

Dhaka: Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury today emphasized that Pahela Baishakh stands as one of the most significant festivals for the Bengali nation, highlighting its reflection of unity, harmony, and deep cultural bonds. “The festival is not merely a celebration but a powerful symbol of secular spirit and human values,” he stated during his address.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister made these remarks after participating in a vibrant Baishakhi Shobhajatra organized by Dhaka University. He further elaborated that the festival embodies a collective aspiration to transcend the grief, decay, and sorrows of the previous year, ushering in the Bangla New Year with renewed hope and enthusiasm.



During the event, the minister extended warm New Year greetings to all attendees of the traditional procession. The procession was attended by government officials, cultural personalities, students, and citizens from various walks of life. This diversity underscored the inclusive nature of the celebration and the strong cultural unity among the Bengali people.
