4 Held with Illegal Fuel in Hatia

Hatia: Members of the Bangladesh Coast Guard detained four people along with a large quantity of illegal fuel during a drive in Hatia upazila of Noakhali this morning.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a team from the Coast Guard Station Hatia conducted a special operation at around 6:30 am in the Meghna River near Nolchira Ghat under Hatia Police Station, acting on a tip-off.

During the operation, the team seized approximately 4,800 litres of petrol and 2,015 litres of diesel. The fuel, estimated to be worth about Tk 791,000, was allegedly brought from a foreign oil tanker, bypassing customs duties. In addition to the fuel, two engine-driven wooden boats used for transportation were also seized during the operation.

The detained individuals, along with the seized fuel, are being handed over to Hatia Police Station for further legal action, as stated by the Coast Guard sources.
