Dhaka: Former minister and Member of Parliament (MP) from Dhaka-2 constituency, Aman Ullah Aman, today urged for collective action from individuals across all sectors to create a drug-free society. He emphasized this during his speech at the “Quality Education, Bright Future, Reception for Meritorious Students and Talent Awards” event held at Keraniganj upazila, where he served as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Aman highlighted the destructive nature of drug addiction, noting its detrimental impact on individuals, families, and society. He appealed to students to avoid drugs and promote awareness within their households. Aman also touched on the strides made in restoring democracy in the country, acknowledging the sacrifices made for the cause and the restoration of voting rights for the populace. He criticized past elections for their alleged irregularities and paid homage to martyrs like Keraniganj’s Shaheed Riaz, whose sacrifices, he stated, were pivotal in the nation’s rebuilding process.
Aman praised former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia for her significant role in restoring democracy and advancing female education through stipend initiatives. He also mentioned Tarique Rahman’s efforts in steering the country towards self-reliance through education and welfare programs. Aman promised future support initiatives for students, urging the current generation to harness their potential through hard work and discipline. He encouraged them to pursue higher education and participate in competitive exams like the BCS.
He stressed the significance of discipline, respect, and consistent study habits, viewing student life as a crucial period for character and value building. Aman also spoke of creating a harmonious society through mutual respect and compassion, expressing his dedication to eradicating extortion and land grabbing in Keraniganj to ensure a peaceful community.
Aman underscored the importance of environmental protection and self-reliance, promoting tree planting and planned future measures. He also emphasized cleanliness as a social responsibility, vital for preventing diseases like dengue. The event, supervised by Barrister Irfan Ibn Aman Ami, organizing secretary of Dhaka District BNP, honored outstanding students with awards and was attended by local dignitaries, educators, guardians, and numerous students.
