Bagerhat: A public awareness documentary focusing on the farmer card initiative and measles prevention was screened this afternoon at Sriphaltala Bazar in Rampal upazila. The event was organized by the District Information Office as part of the government’s efforts to implement its election manifesto and increase public awareness.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, District Information Officer Muinul Haque addressed the gathering, emphasizing various government initiatives aimed at enhancing farmers’ welfare. He announced that the farmer card programme is set to be formally inaugurated in 10 upazilas across the nation on April 14, coinciding with the Bengali New Year, under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Officer Haque explained that the farmer card is designed to provide farmers with easier access to governmental services, including input subsidies and soft loans. The initiative is expected to significantly aid farmers in improving their productivity and financial stability.
In addition to the farmer card, the screening educated attendees about measles, detailing its symptoms, methods of prevention, and the critical role of vaccination. The programme saw participation from local dignitaries and residents, reflecting the community’s interest in both agricultural and health initiatives.
