Tangail: State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku announced today that the ‘Farmer Card’ is set to be a landmark initiative for the development of farmers in the agriculture-dependent country. “The Prime Minister will visit Tangail on April 14 to inaugurate the distribution of the Farmer Card,” Tuku told journalists after inspecting the rally venue and reviewing preparations at Shaheed Maruf Stadium.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the launch of the programme coincides with Pahela Baishakh and is seen as a point of pride for the residents of Tangail, a district steeped in the legacy of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani. The state minister, who is also a Member of Parliament for Tangail Sadar, highlighted that the Prime Minister will first visit the mazar of Maulana Bhashani. The formal inauguration of the nationwide ‘Farmer Card’ distribution programme will take place at 10:30 am at the Tangail District Stadium, where the Prime Minister will hand over cards to selected farmers.

The Prime Minister will also address a farmers’ rally as the chief guest during the event. Following the programme, she is scheduled to inaugurate an agricultural fair at Tangail Municipal Park around 12:15 pm. The state minister added that extensive cleaning and beautification efforts are underway throughout the town in preparation for the visit. Construction of the stage and pavilion at the stadium is also in progress.

A comprehensive four-tier security arrangement has been implemented around the venue. The district administration has completed all necessary preparations to ensure the success of the Prime Minister’s visit. Deputy Commissioner of Tangail Sharifa Haque, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shamsul Alam Sarkar, and officials from various government departments were present during the inspection.
