Dhaka: Vehicular movement on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway was suspended for two hours as workers from Nasa Group blocked the highway, demanding payment of their dues at Paduar Bazar in Cumilla district.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the incident started around 10 am when a number of Nasa Group workers from the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) took to the street at Paduar Bazar, creating a blockade that halted traffic movement. This demonstration led to a significant tailback on both sides of the highway.

Witnesses reported that the protest created a long queue of vehicles, with drivers and passengers stranded due to the unexpected roadblock. The situation prompted swift action from local law enforcement.

On receiving the information, police arrived at the scene and managed to bring the situation under control. Abdul Momin, the Officer-in-Charge of Mainamati Highway Police Station, confirmed that police intervention helped to disperse the workers after they were given assurances regarding their demands.

Traffic movement on the highway resumed to normalcy around 12 pm, alleviating the congestion and allowing for the smooth resumption of vehicular activities.
