Chattogram: Four people, including a 12-year-old boy, were injured in a reported gunfight between two groups of criminals in the Bakalia area of Chattogram city on Saturday night. Mohammad Solaiman, officer-in-charge of Bakalia Police Station, stated that the clash resulted from a long-running dispute between groups led by Morshed Khan, and Abdus Sobhan and Shawkat, over the control of businesses in the Miah Khan Nagar Maidar Mill area.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the rival groups exchanged gunfire around 11:30 p.m., leaving four passersby injured. Hossain Mohammad Kabir Bhuiyan, deputy commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police, reported that police arrested five people and recovered a shotgun and two bullets from the house of Faruk Hossain in connection with the incident.
Among the victims was Fahim, a 12-year-old boy from the Maidar Mill area, who suffered bullet injuries to one of his knees. He is currently undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital. Hospital sources indicated that while Fahim may require surgery, he is out of danger. The other victims were identified as Md Hasan, Jasim, and Ismail Mia.
