Bhatara: BNP Secretary General and LGRD Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today emphasized that there is no scope for division over religion for political reasons. “We must rise above all forms of division and hatred to build a Bangladesh founded on mutual love and brotherhood,” he stated while addressing a greeting exchange ceremony on the occasion of Easter Sunday for the Christian community in Bhatara this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mirza Fakhrul highlighted certain political forces attempting to exploit religion to create societal divisions and deny the spirit of the Liberation War. “Some forces are trying to create division in society. They also deny the spirit of the Liberation War. We must bid a permanent farewell to the word ‘hatred’ from our society,” he asserted. He further encouraged love and harmony as the driving forces for Bangladesh’s future journey.
Mirza Fakhrul pointed out the inclusivity of various religious communities in Bangladesh, noting that, “Bangladesh, on one hand, embraces Islam, and on the other hand, followers of the Sanatana (Hindu) faith are also interwoven here. Followers of Christianity and Buddhism are also an inseparable part of this soil.” He extended his greetings to the Christian community, expressing a desire to build a prosperous Bangladesh through collective efforts.
Addressing the ongoing fuel crisis, the minister acknowledged the challenges posed by the global situation and the government’s efforts to import fuel. He remarked, “Even amidst the crisis caused by the global situation, the government is continuing efforts to import fuel from abroad, giving due importance to the matter. This is very unfortunate.” He also commented on the public’s panic buying behavior, despite assurances of sufficient fuel stockpiles.
The BNP Secretary General expressed gratitude for the support received under the leadership of Tarique Rahman, stating, “BNP has formed the government with your help under the leadership of Tarique Rahman; for this, we are grateful to you. We will move forward with the truth.”
