Children to Be Developed as National Assets, Not Burdens: Zahid

Rangpur: Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain has stated that the government is committed to ensuring children in government-run children’s homes grow into self-reliant individuals and valuable national assets. The minister emphasized that children should not be perceived as burdens on society.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister made these remarks during a surprise visit to a government children’s home at Modern Mor in Rangpur city on Friday evening. He highlighted the government’s initiatives to uplift the living standards of underprivileged children, ensuring they have access to all necessary facilities and do not feel deprived or lacking family support.



Dr. Zahid Hossain further reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward any form of corruption involving children. He assured that no corrupt activities would be tolerated in the management of these children’s homes.



During his visit, the minister engaged with the children, discussing their future goals, studies, food, healthcare, sports, living conditions, and cleanliness. He provided the necessary directives to the concerned officials to ensure the well-being of the children. Officials from the Department of Social Services were also present during the visit.
