Keraniganj: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has assumed responsibility for the families affected by the tragic fire at a gas-lighter manufacturing factory in the Kadamtali area of Keraniganj. The Health and Family Welfare Minister, Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain, announced this initiative during his visit to the scene of the disaster.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Health Minister revealed that each family of the deceased will receive a compensation of TK 200,000 from the Labour and Employment Ministry. Additionally, Husain assured that legal action will be taken against the factory owner and others responsible for the incident. He emphasized that the Prime Minister will be informed to ensure that unsafe and hazardous factories are not permitted to operate in densely populated neighborhoods.
Arrangements have been made to provide medical treatment for the injured victims, Husain stated. The Fire Service control room reported receiving the first alert about the fire at 1:13 PM. The incident resulted in the recovery of five bodies from the site, though their identities remain unconfirmed at this time.
One injured individual has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment. The fire, which required the efforts of seven Fire Service units, was brought under control after approximately one hour and fifteen minutes of intense efforts.
