Pabna: A leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) was shot and hacked to death by unidentified miscreants in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna late Thursday night. The deceased, Imran Hossain Sohag, 26, was the son of Enamul Haque from Baghoil Monnobipara village under Pakshi union. Sohag served as the convener of the proposed upazila JCD committee and was the member secretary of the upazila unit of Zia Cyber Force.
According to United News of Bangladesh, police and local sources reported that Sohag was sitting with friends at a tea stall beside the railway line in front of Sarra Gopalpur High School around 10:30 pm. At this time, a group of assailants with faces covered in black cloth launched an attack. The attackers reportedly hacked him indiscriminately and fired shots before escaping, leaving him dead on the spot.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Ishwardi Circle) Pranab Kumar stated that police arrived at the scene after receiving information and discovered severe injuries on the victim, including significant damage to the head. Initial findings suggest he was hacked to death, and bullet shells were recovered from the scene.
The body has been sent to Pabna General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Authorities are actively working to uncover the motive behind the killing.
