DMP Files 1,466 Cases for Traffic Law Violations in Dhaka

Dhaka: The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken significant action against traffic law violators, filing a total of 1,466 cases during a comprehensive day-long drive across various areas of the capital.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation was carried out on Wednesday with the aim of ensuring traffic discipline throughout Dhaka. The drive saw the Traffic-Motijheel division recording the highest number of cases, totaling 373. These violations involved numerous categories of vehicles, including buses, trucks, covered vans, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and motorcycles.



Traffic-Uttara followed closely with 211 cases, while Traffic-Gulshan documented 238 cases, notably involving a substantial number of buses. In the Traffic-Ramna division, 110 cases were filed, which included violations by buses, covered vans, CNG vehicles, and motorcycles.



Both Traffic-Lalbagh and Traffic-Wari reported 110 and 129 cases, respectively, across similar vehicle categories. Traffic-Tejgaon division accounted for 190 cases, and Traffic-Mirpur recorded 95 cases, with a majority involving battery-powered rickshaws.



During the enforcement drive, officials also took action against offending vehicles, leading to the dumping of 343 vehicles and the wrecking of 93 for various violations. The DMP has stated that such operations are part of their ongoing efforts to improve road discipline and alleviate traffic congestion in the metropolitan area.



The Traffic Division confirmed that these drives will continue in order to ensure compliance with traffic laws throughout Dhaka.
