Chattogram: New Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Hasan Md Shawkat Ali has announced that the force will implement a zero-tolerance policy against drugs and extortionists. This announcement was made during a meeting with journalists today, marking the day after he assumed his new role.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the exchange of views took place in the conference room of Dampara Police Line in the city this afternoon. Commissioner Hasan Md Shawkat Ali emphasized the strategic importance of Chattogram as a port city and stressed the necessity of eliminating the threats posed by drugs and other unlawful activities to maintain its safety and security.
“We will give priority to establishing a peaceful society so that people do not feel insecurity,” he stated, underscoring the CMP’s commitment to a secure environment. He further warned that any negligence in serving the public would not be tolerated, and police personnel found engaging in illegal or immoral activities would face strict consequences.
The commissioner also revealed plans for an imminent special drive targeting illegal drug peddlers, snatchers, and juvenile gangs, reinforcing the CMP’s dedication to eradicating these issues from the city.
