Faridpur Kicks Off Mosquito Control and Cleanliness Campaign

Faridpur: A comprehensive mosquito control and cleanliness campaign was launched in the district today as part of the district’s effort to curb mosquito-borne diseases and improve public hygiene. The programme began at the Jhiltuli Government Primary School (Model School) ground around 11 am, organised by Faridpur Municipality.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Kamrul Hasan Molla inaugurated the event as the chief guest. Mohammad Sohrab Hossain, Faridpur Municipal Administrator and Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), attended as a special guest, with Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Shamsul Azam presiding over the event.

Other dignitaries present included Civil Surgeon Mahmudul Hasan, District Primary Education Officer Mohiuddin Ahmed, Faridpur Metropolitan BNP Convener AFM Qayum, and District BNP Joint Convener Syed Zulfikar Hossain Jewel. The campaign was organised under the supervision of Faridpur Municipality Social Development Officer Syed Mohammad Ahaduzzaman.

During the programme, speakers highlighted the rising mosquito infestation in the town and emphasized the importance of preventing mosquito-borne diseases, including dengue. Citizens were urged to maintain cleanliness around their homes and eliminate mosquito breeding grounds.

The municipality also announced plans to conduct phased campaigns in different areas to keep roads and public spaces free from encroachment.
